Conscience and Courage:
a day workshop with Zoketsu Norman Fischer and Kakushi Kate McCandless

Friday, January 25, 2008
9:30 am – 4:00 pm
Centre for Peace
1825 West 16th Avenue, Vancouver

In this world of tremendous moral and ethical confusion, where human greed, hatred and delusion cause so much harm, selfless action seems to require great courage. And yet those we admire for their selfless deeds often respond that it was not a matter of courage. They could not have lived with themselves if they had done otherwise. They seem to have a sense of interconnectedness, or non-separation that allows them to go beyond narrow self-interest.

How can awareness of body and mind support our ability to make ethical choices in our daily lives? How can we develop a conscience based on wisdom and compassion rather than fear and guilt? How can we cultivate a view spacious enough to forgive human imperfection, while continuously renewing our commitment to a life of conscience? In this day-long workshop we will explore these questions through gentle yoga, meditation, writing, teaching, and large and small group conversation.

Cost is $50 (regular fee) or $40 (MRZC members), plus donation (dana) to the teachers. Space is limited, so please register early.
